Nevada’s individual health insurance marketplace, Nevada Health Link, is facing significant price adjustments. For the 2026 plan year, carriers have proposed an average 17.5% increase in premiums for existing plans, a steep rise compared to the 7.11% increase seen for 2025. These increases align with national trends, where the median requested by insurers stands at around 15%.
Nevada is introducing a new public-option offering known as the Battle Born State Plans (BBSPs), debuting for coverage beginning January 1, 2026. These plans:
Offer the same essential health benefits and consumer protections as other ACA marketplace plans.
Are mandated to meet premium reduction targets, potentially providing rates about 15% lower than the market average over the next four years.
Become available for shopping starting October 1, 2025, with formal enrollment kicking off November 1, 2025, during the annual Open Enrollment.
If finalized as expected, BBSPs may offer significant relief from steep rate hikes, though their actual pricing compared to existing plans will only be confirmed once approved rates are posted on October 1, 2025.
Open Enrollment for 2026 coverage runs from November 1, 2025 , to January 15, 2026.
Enrollees will be able to compare standard plans and BBSPs on NevadaHealthLink.com starting October 1.
While the above is what’s expected, several changes may occur between now and open enrollment.
